Barbie’s fleet is worth £2 million
With the upcoming Barbie movie, Peter Vardy has dived into the archives of Barbie’s toy fleet since 1962 and uncovered 30 of her most iconic and expensive cars.
Calculating how much the make and model would cost were you to buy the real car instead of the toy, we have discovered her fleet is worth a huge £2 million ($2.27 million) – quite a significant jump compared to the £1,256 ($2,542) that her toy cars amount to.

A custom-built Ferrari F2003 is Barbie’s most expensive car
Barbie’s most expensive car is a Ferrari formula 1 car, custom-made for a Barbie Doll Collectors Convention. The vehicle was modelled after the highly successful F2003-GA, with 845 horsepower and 7-speed transmission. The Ferrari F2003-GA Grand Prix car sold for £1.4 Million in 2007.
The Mercedes-Benz 190SL valued at £83,250 is barbie’s second-most expensive car
The classic Mercedes-Benz 190SL is one of the most iconic Mercedes cars and considered the most beautiful, so it’s no surprise Barbie had to get her hands on one in 1962.
The stunning car is worth £83,250 and was produced during 1955-1963. The luxury two-door car could be bought with either a soft-top convertible roof or a removable hardtop roof. The car has a horsepower of 104, and a top speed of 107 mph.
The third-most expensive car Barbie owned is a Ferrari Spider 360, worth £76.5k
In 2001, Barbie scored a Ferrari Spider 360, worth £76.5k in today’s world. The toy car however is worth £89, which seems a lot for 22-year-old plastic.
The car is in a classic Ferrari red with tanned what would be leather seats, Barbie’s toy car even had a working boot. Just 7,565 were built of the actual Spider car in its five-year production. The model can reach 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph.
Ferrari F355 GTS is the fourth-most expensive car in Barbie’s fleet
Ferrari made 2,577 F355 GTS models, and of course, Barbie owned one of them. Given that so few were produced the car is worth a whopping £74,205, making this Barbie’s fourth-most expensive car.
The GTS version was first introduced to the F355 family in 1995. The model was based on the Berlinetta but had a removable roof (a must for a doll without working knees), that could be stored behind the seats.
Barbie’s first sports car: Austin Healey 3000 MK11
The first vehicle Barbie ever owned was an Austin-Healey 3000 MK11 in 1962. At the time, toy catalogues applauded the precision design and chrome-like fittings. You could own the Barbie Healy in yellow, orange, pink green and red.
The real Austin-Healey 3000 is worth £56k, a significant amount more than £315 which is what you would be looking at for the retro toy.
The next car in Barbie’s fleet is the 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL, certainly a step up in luxury. This is Barbie’s second-most expensive car.
The first ever Chevrolet Corvette Barbie owned is worth £13.5k
Then in 1976, Barbie gained a Chevrolet Corvette - the first of many. In fact, Barbie owned 21 Corvettes in her time, and 22 if you include the Barbie movie car.
This particular convertible had a purple/pink exterior adorned with stars and stripes. A 1976 Chevrolet Corvette is worth £13.5k with 180 horsepower and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 8.5 sec.
In 1981 Barbie added a VW Golf Cabriolet MK1 Convertible to her garage, and in 1982 she gained a GMC motorhome equipped with a stove, oven and bathroom.
However, in 1985 Barbie amplified the luxury with a Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible, worth £50.5k.
Red-hot Barbie Ferrari: the 328 GTS was added to her fleet in 1987
Barbie scored her first Ferrari in 1987, a red-hot Ferrari 328 GTS. The actual vehicle is considered one of the most reliable classic Ferraris, thanks to its simple engineering. The Ferrari has an average value of £46.7k, whereas you can pick up the Barbie toy for £34.
Then, in 1987 Barbie picked up another Chevrolet, but this time a 1957 Chevy Convertible available in pink or turquoise. This classic car is an icon, drag racers loved it for its relative lightweight and efficient power.
Today, it’s a well-sought-after classic car and is worth £64,350 - the fifth most expensive car in Barbie’s fleet.
In 1993, the doll gained a Ford Mustang Convertible, then a hot pink Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet - the real one is worth a cracking £40,500.
Finally, in 1994 Barbie scored a glittery pink Jaguar XJ-Series Convertible worth £3,512.
Barbie’s cheapest car is a Volkswagen Beetle worth £1.9k
Five years after getting her first Porsche, Barbie gained her second - a Porsche Boxster. The real vehicle has a high-performance 6-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and proved an inexpensive way to own a Porsche - they’re now worth £4,000.
In 1999, Barbie scored a Jeep Wrangler TJ. Then another Corvette, but this time a C5 worth £15,750. Equipped with a V8 engine, the Corvette can reach 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 160 mph.
The millennium brought Barbie a blue Mustang valued at £9.5k. Then Barbie’s cheapest car ever - a Volkswagen Beetle worth £1.9k.
The fastest Corvette ever was added to Barbie’s fleet in 2001
Barbie added not one but two Ferrari to her fleet in 2001. One was the F355 GTS and the other a Spider 360, the fourth and third most expensive cars in Barbie’s garage. The doll acquired another Corvette - the fastest Corvette ever, in fact, reaching 60mph in just 4.5 seconds.
In 2002, alongside a red Ford Escape SUV, Barbie acquired a 2002 Ford Thunderbird Convertible modelled after the first-generation Thunderbird with elegant retro styling. The car is considered a collector’s item and is valued at £6k.
The FIAT 500 became Barbie’s car of choice in 2009
Fiat started production of the new Fiat 500 in 2007 and it soon became one of Fiat's bestsellers.
So much so, that Barbie herself acquired one in 2009 and drove the model until 2012, before getting a refreshed Fiat 500 in 2021-22.
The Fiat 500 has set Barbie back £9,389, ad £12,289, respectively.
